Step 1 Sterilize

To sterilize your UVA 2 Menstrual Cup, there are two easy methods to choose from:

Microwave Sterilizer: Place the UVA 2 Menstrual Cup inside a microwave sterilizer and fill it with water until it covers the cup completely. Microwave for 3-4 minutes, then carefully pour out the hot water and let the cup and sterilizer cool in a safe place. Remember to use oven mitts or tongs to handle the hot sterilizer and cup.

Boiling Method: Place the UVA 2 Menstrual Cup in a pot and fill it with water until it covers the cup completely. Bring the water to a boil and let it boil for 2 minutes. Use tongs or oven mitts to carefully remove the cup from the pot and let it cool in a safe place.

Note: Be careful when handling hot water and sterilizers to avoid injury.

Step 4 Insert

Once you have washed your hands, assume a comfortable position. We recommend having your knees slightly bent and your legs open (in a squatting position). Hold the UVA Menstrual Cup with your index and thumb fingers, press them together, and then fold the cup in half to make a U-shape.

While holding the UVA Menstrual Cup folded in one hand, use the other hand to open the vaginal lips and insert the cup with the nozzle facing upwards. Once fully inserted, release the cup and allow it to open, it will adapt perfectly to your body.

Step 5 Check

To check if the UVA Menstrual Cup is properly secured, twist it 360° by holding the base. It should rotate completely and easily.

If it resists or you perceive that it is not fully open in its oval shape or has folds, remove it and reinsert it until it is well placed. At first, it may take a little practice, but over time you will get used to it.

Step 6 Extract

Before removing the cup, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Take a comfortable position again, insert your fingers into the vagina and place your index finger between the UVA Menstrual Cup and the vaginal wall to break the seal. Hold the cup by its base and use the stem to carefully pull it out in a vertical position.

Step 7 Empty and clean

Empty the cup at least every 12 hours by pouring the contents into the toilet. Once you learn to use it, and depending on your menstrual cycle, do it when you consider it necessary. Clean the cup thoroughly with water and the UVA Menstrual Cup Cleaner.
